Recognising the important role Data Science has to play in the transport sector the Department for Transport is running a series of events for professionals showcasing work carried out in the sector. This is very much an emerging are of interest, and one that Agilysis has already been investing in, and we were excited to present some of our work in analysing risk to cyclists as a part of today’s event.
Richard Owen showed the work we had undertaken using data from English local authorities which is then analysed to asses how risk changes as the number of people cycling regularly increases.
Other presentations on the day looked at risk junctions for cyclists, speed violations using app-data, the use of VR in modelling new street scenes, and a presentation from Google on using AI to detect vehicle types
